Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus type II (PRRSV-II RT-epPCR)

Description

The PRRSV-II RT-epPCR comprises a series of species-specific targeted reagents designed for detection of Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus type II by using epPCR. Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus is a small, enveloped RNA virus, which contains a single-stranded, positive-sense, RNA genome with a size of 15 Kb. PRRSV is a member of the genus Arterivirus, family Arteriviridae. PRRSV causes a disease of pigs, called porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome, also known as blue-ear pig disease, characterized by reproductive failure in breeding stock and respiratory tract illness in young pigs. According to the characteristics of their genome, PRRSV can be divided into two genotypes: European (type I) and the North American (type II). Although these two genotypes differ greatly in their antigenic properties and genetic content, both cause almost similar syndromes.
