Turkey astrovirus 2 and Avastrovirus 1 qPCR Duplex
Description
The TAstV-2&AAstV-1 dtec-RT-qPCR Duplex comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Turkey astrovirus 2 and Avastrovirus 1 Â detection by using multiplexed qPCR. The genus Avastrovirus consists of non-enveloped, positive-sense, single-stranded RNA viruses that replicate in the cytoplasm of infected cells and includes three described species, such as Avastrovirus 1 (containing Turkey astrovirus 1) and Turkey astrovirus 2 (part of the Avastrovirus 3 species). These viruses primarily infect birds, especially turkey poults on farms, causing symptoms like growth depression, decreased thymus size, and enteric infections. If humans consume contaminated meat, the virus can cause gastroenteritis, liver or kidney damage, watery diarrhoea, vomiting, and headache. Avastrovirus is highly prevalent and can infect diverse avian species globally, including wild birds. The subtypes of Turkey astrovirus are classified based on their capsid genes.
