Salmonella spp.

Description

TheĀ SalSpp qPCR comprises a series of species-specific targeted reagents designed for detection by using qPCR of species of the genusĀ Salmonella.Ā SalmonellaĀ is closely related to theĀ EscherichiaĀ genus and are found world wide in cold- and warm-blooded animals (including humans), and in the environment. They cause illnesses such astyphoid fever, paratyphoid fever, andfoodborne illness.Ā SalmonellaĀ infections are zoonotic and can be transferred between humans and nonhuman animals. Many infections are due to ingestion of contaminated food.Ā Salmonella entericaĀ subsp.entericaĀ serovar Typhi can cause serious illness because of a special virulence factor and a capsule protein (virulence antigen).Ā Salmonella typhiĀ is adapted to humans and does not occur in other animals.Ā SalmonellaĀ species are facultativeintracellular pathogens that enter cells via macropinosomes.
