African horse sickness virus
Description
The AHSV dtec-RT-qPCR comprises a series of species-specific targeted reagents designed for detection of African horse sickness virus by using qPCR. African horse sickness virus is a virus of the genus Orbivirus belonging to the family Reoviridae, the genome contains 10 double-stranded RNA segments of varying sizes. Is responsible of the African Horse Sickness which can be caused by any of the nine serotypes of the virus. ASHV is lethal in up to 95 % of its hosts, including horses, zebras, donkeys, camels, dogs, and mules, and despite the disease is not directly contagious it is known to be spread by insect vectors.
