Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris
Description
The AliAci dtec-qPCR comprises a series of species-specific targeted reagents designed for Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris detection by using qPCR. Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris is a genus of Gram-positive, rod-shaped, spore-forming, bacteria. The bacteria are able to grow in acidic conditions and, together with other species of Alicyclobacillus, are of special interest to the fruit juice canning industry because common pasteurization techniques do not deactivate their spores. Juice products spoiled by A. acidoterrestris, develops a disinfectant-like odor and/or flavor, but no swelling of the package or discoloration of the product is observed. Despite the importance for juice industry, A. acidoterrestris is not pathogenic to humans.
