Alkhurma hemorrhagic fever virus
Description
The AHFV dtec-RT-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Alkhurma hemorrhagic fever virus detection by using qPCR. Alkhurma hemorrhagic fever virus is a single-stranded RNA virus of the Flavivirus genus. Infection causes symptoms including fever, headache, joint pain, muscle pain, vomiting, loss of appetite, discomfort, and chills. In less than 10% of cases, affected individuals develop severe neurologic and hemorrhagic symptoms. The natural hosts are likely camels and goats, with zoonosis possible through different routes, such as tick bites, ingestion of unpasteurized milk, or direct contact with an open wound. Alkhurma hemorrhagic fever virus was first identified in Saudi Arabia but has since spread to places such as Egypt, Djibouti, and India.
