Avian infectious bronchitis virus GI-23 lineage
Description
The AIBV-GI-23 dtec-RT-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Avian infectious bronchitis virus GI-23 lineage detection by using qPCR. Avian infectious bronchitis virus (avian coronavirus), belonging to the Gammacoronavirus genus, is a single-stranded, positive-sense RNA virus. The GI-23 lineage, also known as the variant 2 strain, has gained attention due to its ability to cause significant outbreaks in poultry worldwide. It infects chickens and other species such as turkeys, pheasants, and guinea fowl, where it is also associated with disease. The virus primarily spreads through respiratory secretions, fecal matter, and contaminated equipment, with rapid transmission among chickens. The Avian infectious bronchitis virus GI-23 mainly targets the respiratory tract but can also affect the kidneys and reproductive system. Infected birds typically exhibit symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, and decreased egg production, while severe cases may involve kidney damage or death, especially in younger birds.
