Babesia caballi
Description
The BabCab dtec-qPCR contains individual ready-to-use tubes containing all the components needed for Babesia caballi detection by using qPCR. Babesiosis is a malaria-like parasitic disease caused by infection with Babesia, a genus of protozoal piroplasms. After trypanosomes, Babesia is thought to be the second most common blood parasites of mammals, and they can have a major impact on health of domestic animals in areas without severe winters. Common names of the disease include Texas cattle fever, redwater fever, tick fever, and Nantucket fever. B. caballi occurs in southern Europe, Russia, Asia, Africa, South and Central America and the southern states of the US.
