Borrelia burdogferi

Description

The BorBur dtec-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Borrelia burgdorferi detection by using qPCR. Borrelia burgdorferi is a bacterial species of the Spirochaetes phylum of the genus Borrelia. It is a tick-borne obligate parasite whose normal reservoir is a variety of small mammals. Infection of these natural hosts does not lead to disease, but infection of humans can result in Lyme disease, as a consequence of the human immunopathological response to B. burgdorferi. The bacteria spread through the body and can affects the heart, bones and nervous system. Due to the contagion by ticks, coinfections with Anaplasma and Babesia species can occur, and the combined effects of the diseases act synergistically.
