Bovine respiratory syncytial virus
Description
The BRSV dtec-RT-qPCR comprises a series of species-specific targeted reagents designed for Bovine respiratory syncytial virus detection by using qPCR. Bovine respiratory syncytial virus is an enveloped, single-strand negative-sense RNA virus included in the Paramyxovirus family. Bovine respiratory syncytial virus is a cause of respiratory disease in cattle worldwide. It has an integral role in enzootic pneumonia in young dairy calves and summer pneumonia in nursing beef calves. Furthermore, BRSV infection can predispose calves to secondary bacterial infection by organisms such as Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, or Histophilus somni, resulting in bovine respiratory disease complex, the most prevalent cause of morbidity and mortality among feedlot cattle.
