Candida albicans
Description
The CanAlb dtec-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Candida albicans detection by using qPCR. Candida albicans is a dimorphic fungus that grows both as yeast and filamentous cells. It is part of the common microbiota of intestinal tract, colon and mouth usually with no pathogenic effects. However, C. albicans is one of the few species of the genus that cause candidiasis infection in humans. Systemic fungal infections (fungemias) including those by C. albicans have emerged as important causes of morbidity and mortality in immunocompromised patients. In addition, hospital-acquired infections of C. albicans have become a cause of major health concerns.
