The CCoV-1 RT-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Canine coronavirus type 1 detection by using qPCR. Canine coronavirus is an enveloped, single-stranded positive-sense RNA virus belonging to the family Coronaviridae and the species Alphacoronavirus suis. Based on divergence in spike protein sequences, two distinct genotypes have been reported: canine coronavirus type I and type II. The virus infects domestic dogs and wild canids, causing canine coronavirus infection, which mainly affects the gastrointestinal tract and occasionally the respiratory system, depending on the viral strain. Common clinical manifestations include diarrhoea, vomiting, anorexia, lethargy, dehydration and mild to severe enteritis, particularly in puppies or immunocompromised animals. The virus is primarily transmitted via the faecal–oral route through direct contact with infected animals or contaminated environments. It is widespread in canine populations, particularly in shelters and breeding facilities.
