Chikungunya virus
Description
The CHIKV dtec-RT-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Chikungunya virus detection by using qPCR. Chikungunya virus is an RNA arbovirus with a positive-sense single-stranded genome and belongs to the genus Alphavirus. Infection causes symptoms such as fever, joint pain, headache, muscle pain, joint swelling, and rash, with the very young, the very old and those with co-morbidities at risk of a more severe disease. The virus is transmitted to humans through two types of mosquitoes: Aedes albopictus and Aedes aegypti. Vertical transmission from mother to child is also possible but less common.
