Chlamydia pneumoniae
Description
The ChlPne qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Chlamydia pneumoniae detection by using qPCR. Chlamydia pneumoniae is a Gram-negative, obligate intracellular bacterium belonging to the Chlamydiaceae family. It is a human pathogen primarily associated with respiratory tract infections, including atypical pneumonia, bronchitis and pharyngitis. Clinical manifestations are often mild and may include a persistent cough, a low-grade fever and malaise. However, more severe disease can occur, particularly in elderly or immunocompromised individuals. Transmission occurs via respiratory droplets, facilitating person-to-person spread. The bacterium is distributed worldwide and has been implicated in chronic conditions such as asthma and atherosclerosis, although these associations are still under investigation.
