The ChlTra-LGV qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Chlamydia trachomatis LGV genotypes detection by using qPCR. Chlamydia trachomatis is a Gram-negative, obligate intracellular bacterium belonging to the family Chlamydiaceae. It comprises multiple genotypes that are associated with distinct clinical manifestations. This assay is specifically designed to detect the L1, L2 and L3 genotypes associated with lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV), an invasive sexually transmitted infection primarily affecting humans. Clinical manifestations typically begin with a transient genital ulcer or papule, followed by painful inguinal and/or femoral lymphadenopathy. Anorectal infection may cause proctitis, rectal pain, bleeding and discharge. Transmission primarily occurs through sexual contact with infected genital or anorectal secretions. Lymphogranuloma venereum is distributed worldwide, with endemic regions in parts of Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and South America. Recurrent outbreaks have also been reported in Europe and North America.
