The CYVCV RT-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Citrus yellow vein clearing virus detection by using qPCR. Citrus yellow vein clearing virus (species Potexvirus citriflavivenae) is a positive-sense single-stranded RNA virus that belongs to the family Alphaflexiviridae. It primarily infects citrus species, particularly lemon trees (Citrus limon), causing citrus yellow vein clearing disease. Infected plants typically exhibit yellow vein clearing, leaf distortion, chlorosis, reduced vigour and, in some cases, decreased fruit yield and quality. The virus is transmitted through grafting and infected propagation material, and it may also spread naturally via insect vectors, particularly the citrus aphid Aphis spiraecola. The virus has been detected in several citrus-producing regions worldwide, including China, Pakistan, India, Turkey, Iran, California, Italy and Spain, where it represents an emerging phytosanitary threat. The assay was developed in accordance with the recommendations of official reference institutions, such as the Instituto Valenciano de Investigaciones Agrarias (IVIA).
