Clostridium perfringens Alpha toxin
Description
The CloPer-Alpha dtec-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Clostridium perfringens Alpha toxin detection by using qPCR. Clostridium perfringens (formerly known as C. welchii, or Bacillus welchii) is a spore-forming Gram-positive bacterium that is found in many environmental sources as well as in the intestines of humans and animals. C. perfringens is responsible of food poisoning, gastrointestinal disease, gas gangrene and related necrotic conditions in humans and other mammals. This bacterium produces 4 major toxins (named Alpha, Beta, Epsilon and Iota). Alpha toxin can be found in all the toxinotypes of C. perfringens, but in the A type is the only major toxin expressed, causing gas gangrene and hemolysis in infected individuals.
