Clostridium perfringens
Description
The CloPer dtec-qPCR comprises a series of species-specific targeted reagents designed for Clostridium perfringens detection by using qPCR. Clostridium perfringens (formerly known as C. welchii, or Bacillus welchii) is a spore-forming Gram-positive bacterium that is found in many environmental sources as well as in the intestines of humans and animals. C. perfringens is one of the most common causes of food poisoning, by poorly prepared meat or food properly prepared but left to stand too long. Persons infected develop diarrhea and abdominal cramps within 6 to 24 hours (typically 8-12). The illness usually begins suddenly and lasts for less than 24 hours. Also it is the first causative agent of gas gangrene.
