Cytauxzoon spp.
Description
The CytSpp MONODOSE dtec-qPCR contains individual ready-to-use tubes containing all the components needed for Cytauxzoon spp. detection by using qPCR. Cytauxzoon spp. is a tick-borne protozoan parasite within the family Theileriidae along with their closest relatives of Theileria spp. Some Cytauxzoon species infects wild and domestic felids causing a severe, and often fatal disease. Clinical signs are the result of severe intravascular haemolysis and include anaemia, icterus, hepatomegaly, and splenomegaly. Mortality rates approach 100% in 2 weeks of infection although, some individuals appear to recover. PCR assay may be used to diagnose clinical and subclinical infections.
