Dobrova-Belgrade virus
Description
The DOBV dtec-RT-qPCR comprises a series of species-specific targeted reagents designed for detection of the “phylogenetic core” of the Dobrova-Belgrade virus by using qPCR. Due to the vast genetic diversity described to date under this name, specificity (inclusivity) of this qPCR test would cover the core of DOBV, the cluster in red of the phylogenetic tree shown in the figure. This cluster includes the reference strains described for the virus and the Dobrava-Belgrade virus RefSeq Genome. Sequences of the out-groups may need some review and taxonomic rearrangements. In fact, Klempa et al. (Arch Virol, 2012) propose a subdivision of the species Dobrava-Belgrade virus into four related genotypes that show characteristic differences in their phylogeny, specific host reservoirs, geographical distribution, and pathogenicity for humans.
