Ebola Bundibugyo
Description
The BDBV RT-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Ebola Bundibugyo detection by using qPCR. Bundibugyo virus (Orthoebolavirus bundibugyoense) is an enveloped, single-stranded negative-sense RNA virus belonging to the family Filoviridae, characterised by its filamentous morphology. It is the causative agent of Bundibugyo virus disease, a severe form of Ebola disease that primarily affects humans and is believed to have an animal reservoir, likely involving bats. Clinical manifestations may include sudden onset of fever, fatigue, headache, muscle pain, gastrointestinal symptoms, haemorrhagic signs, and in severe cases, multi-organ failure and death. Transmission occurs through direct contact with the blood, secretions, organs, or other bodily fluids of infected individuals or animals, as well as contaminated materials. The virus has mainly been identified in East and Central Africa, where sporadic outbreaks have been reported.
