Ebola Sudan
Description
The SUDV RT-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Ebola Sudan detection by using qPCR. Sudan virus (species Orthoebolavirus sudanense) is an enveloped virus with a single-stranded negative-sense RNA genome that belongs to the family Filoviridae. It is one of the causative agents of Ebola disease, primarily affecting humans and non-human primates, where it can produce severe viral haemorrhagic fever with a high case fatality rate. Clinical manifestations typically include sudden onset of fever, fatigue, headache, myalgia, vomiting, diarrhoea, rash, impaired kidney and liver function, and, in severe cases, internal and external haemorrhage, shock and multiorgan failure. Transmission occurs through direct contact with the blood, secretions, organs, or other bodily fluids of infected individuals or animals, as well as contaminated materials. Sudan virus has been responsible for recurrent outbreaks primarily in East and Central Africa, particularly in Sudan and Uganda.
