Equine coronavirus
Description
The ECoV dtec-RT-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Equine coronavirus detection by using qPCR. Equine coronavirus is an enveloped, positive-sense, single-stranded RNA virus belonging to the family Coronaviridae in the genus Betacoronavirus. It is an emerging virus isolated in association with outbreaks and sporadic cases of fever and enteric disease in adult horses worldwide. Equine coronavirus causes an infection in adult horses associated with non-specific clinical signs including anorexia, lethargy, fever, colic, leukopenia, and changes of fecal character. Due to the lack of specific signs, diagnosis can present a challenge for practitioners, for this reason the preferred method for diagnosis is quantitative PCR on fresh fecal samples.
