Equine herpesvirus 3

Description

The EHV-3 dtec-qPCR comprises a series of species-specific targeted reagents designed for Equine herpesvirus 3 detection by using qPCR. Equine herpesvirus 3 is a virus of the family Herpesviridae that affects horses. It is responsible of the disease known as equine coital exanthema. The disease is spread through direct and sexual contact, but some outbreaks have been documented in which transmission occurred via contaminated supplies and instruments or by the use of a single glove for rectal examination of many mares. EHV-3 has a short period of incubation and the signs of disease include pustules and ulcerations of the vagina, penis, prepuce, and perineum. Lesions may also be seen on the lips and teats. However, pregnancy rates are not reduced.
