Equine protozoos

Description

The Equine protozoos dtec-qPCR-Panel-2 comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Theileria equi and Babesia caballi detection by using qPCR. Theileria equi and Babesia caballi are genera of parasitic protozoan belonging to the phylum Apicomplexa. Both are transmitted by tick species, infecting blood, and causing a parasitic disease. T. equi and B. caballi are the causative agents of equine piroplasmoses. T. equi has an extended geographical distribution and even in tropical regions it occurs more frequently than B. caballi, also in the Mediterranean basin, Switzerland and the southwest of France. B. caballi occurs in southern Europe, Russia, Asia, Africa, South and Central America and the southern states of the US.
