Escherichia coli fimC
Description
The EscCol-fimC dtec-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Escherichia coli fimC detection by using qPCR. Escherichia coli bacteria typically reside in the intestines of humans and animals. Most E. coli strains are harmless and play an essential role in maintaining a healthy human intestinal tract. However, some strains are pathogenic, meaning they can cause illness, including diarrhoea or infections outside the intestinal tract. The types of E. coli that can cause diarrhoea may be transmitted through contaminated food or water, or via contact with infected animals or humans. The fimC gene is a member of the periplasmic chaperone family, and it is required for the assembly of type-1 pili, which are filamentous, highly oligomeric protein complexes anchored to the outer bacterial membrane that mediate adhesion of pathogenic E. coli strains to host cell surfaces.
