Haemoparasitic Protozoan
Description
The Haemoparasitic Protozoan dtec-qPCR-Panel-2 comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Theileria spp. and Babesia spp. detection by using qPCR. Theileria and Babesia are genera of parasitic protozoan belonging to the phylum Apicomplexa. Both are transmitted by tick species, infecting blood, and causing a parasitic disease. Both are known to be a serious illness for wild and domesticated animals, especially cattle, but only few species have been documented to be pathogenic in humans. Even when Theileria and Babesia cause a similar disease, differentiation is of relevance since each genus respond differently to drug treatments.
