Human Influenza type B virus M1 gene
Description
The HIBV-M1 dtec-RT-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Human Influenza type B virus M1 gene detection by using qPCR. Influenza viruses are negative-sense, single-stranded, segmented RNA viruses belonging to the Betainfluenzavirus genus on the Orthomyxoviridae family. There are 4 types of influenza viruses: A, B, C and D. Influenza B virus can be further classified into two lineages based on the antigenic properties of the surface glycoprotein hemagglutinin. The lineages are termed Yamagata and Victoria. There is co-circulation of both Influenza B virus lineages around the world, being Victoria more frequent in the last years. Influenza B viruses change more slowly in terms of their genetic and antigenic properties than influenza A viruses. Specific sequences within the M1 gene appear to play a crucial role in controlling the shape of the virus. Expression of the M1 protein alone is sufficient to drive the budding of vesicles from the plasma membrane, suggesting that M1 provides a driving force essential for virus assembly and release.
