Legionella pneumophila
Description
The LegPne dtec-qPCR comprises a series of species-specific targeted reagents designed for detection of Legionella pneumophila by using qPCR. Legionella pneumophila is a thin, aerobic, pleomorphic, flagellated, non-spore forming, Gram-negative bacterium of the genus Legionella. L. pneumophila is the primary human pathogenic bacterium in this group and is the causative agent of legionellosis or Legionnaires’ disease, a severe form of pneumonia. L. pneumophila is found naturally in most fresh water sources, including lakes, ponds, and rivers. It is found in cooling towers, plumbing systems, water heaters, and warm water spas. It has also been isolated from soil samples.
