Listeria ivanovii
Description
The LisIva dtec-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Listeria ivanovii detection by using qPCR. Listeria ivanovii is a rod-shaped, non-spore forming, Gram-positive bacteria belonging to the Listeriaceae family. It behaves like L. monocytogenes but is found almost exclusively in ruminants (mainly sheep). Infection with L. ivanovii can lead to septicemic disease with enteritis, neonatal sepsis and even abortion. Pregnant ruminants are therefore most at risk. The infection multiplies in the liver and is known to spread to macrophages as well as non-phagocytic cells. Human zoonosis is described but extremely rare.
