Mannheimia haemolytica
Description
The ManHae dtec-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Mannheimia haemolytica detection by using qPCR. Mannheimia haemolytica is a Gram-negative, anaerobe, non-spore-forming and non-motile bacteria belonging to the Pasteurellaceae family. It is the cause of epizootic pneumonia in cattle known as pneumonic pasteurellosis (also shipping fever or transit fever). M. haemolytica Biotype A serotype 1, causes 90 % of cases together with Pasteurella multocida. Environmental stress immunosuppression or the infection caused by respiratory viruses or Mycoplasma spp, lead to its establishment and multiplication in lung tissue. M. haemolytica may contribute to enzootic pneumonia of calves, enzootic pneumonia of lambs and peritonitis in sheep. It also causes gangrenous mastitis in sheep. Furthermore, it is the most important economic loss disease in beef cattle, and the second one after gastrointestinal diseases mainly in less than a year-old dairy heifers.
