Methicillin resistance gene
Description
The MRG dtec-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Methicillin resistance gene detection by using qPCR. Methicillin resistance gene most common carriers are Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) or Streptococcus pneumoniae. The methicillin resistance allows a bacterium to be resistant to β-lactam antibiotics which include the penicillins (methicillin, dicloxacillin, nafcillin, oxacillin, etc) and other cephalosporins. The evolution of such resistance does not cause the organism to be more intrinsically virulent than strains that have no antibiotic resistance, but resistance does make infection more difficult to treat with standard types of antibiotics and thus more dangerous.
