Molluscum contagiosum virus
Description
The MCV qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Molluscum contagiosum virus detection by using qPCR. Molluscum contagiosum virus is an enveloped virus with a double-stranded DNA genome belonging to the family Poxviridae, genus Molluscipoxvirus. It is the causative agent of molluscum contagiosum, a benign cutaneous infection that affects humans, particularly children and immunocompromised individuals. Clinical manifestations include small, firm, dome-shaped papules with central umbilication that typically appear on the face, trunk, limbs, or genital area. The virus is transmitted through direct skin-to-skin contact, autoinoculation, or contact with contaminated objects. The infection is widespread, with a higher prevalence in warm, humid climates.
