Mycobacterium intracellulare subsp. chimaera
Description
The MycbIntChi dtec-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Mycobacterium intracellulare subsp. chimaera detection by using qPCR. Mycobacterium intracellulare subsp. chimaera is a slow growing aerobic mycobacterium from the Mycobacteriaceae familly. It can produce endocarditis and bacteremia in humans that have undergone surgery in a room with aerosols coming from an infected source. Symptoms include fatigue, fever, hepatitis, splenomegaly, pancytopenia and renal insufficiency. M. intracellulare subsp. chimaera has been isolated from human sputum, heater-cooler units, household water and biofilm samples.
