Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex
Description
The MTplex dtec-qPCR comprises a series of species-specific targeted reagents designed for detection of all species contained in the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex, by using qPCR. MTplex refers to a genetically closely related group of Mycobacterium species that may cause tuberculosis. At present, the group includes: M. tuberculosis, M. africanum, M.bovis and M.bovis BCG, M. microti, M. canettii, M.pinnipedii. Although the newly described species, M. mungi, has not yet been validated, it has been reported to contain the genetic element specific to this complex, which has been used as target in the present test.
