Mycoplasma cynos
Description
The MycCyn dtec-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Mycoplasma cynos detection by using qPCR. Mycoplasma cynos is a Gram-positive bacterium from the Mycoplasma genus. It’s ubiquitous in the upper respiratory tract of dogs and thought to be part of the normal flora. M. cynos has been associated with canine infectious respiratory disease, also called kennel cough, which can induce pneumonia in dogs and even cause death in the infected animal. The disease is regarded as a complex infection. Challenge with viral and bacterial agents produces a synergistic effect, leading to clinical signs such as dry cough, anorexia, vomiting, and depression. Transmission of mycoplasmas between animals can occur vertically or horizontally, by direct contact through secretions and fomites, and they have been detected worldwide.
