Mycoplasma hyosynoviae
Description
The MycHyo dtec-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Mycoplasma hyosynoviae detection by using qPCR. Mycoplasma hyosynoviae belongs to Mycoplasmataceae family and, as all Mycoplasma species, lack a cell wall around their cell membrane. It is one of the causing agents of infectious arthritis in pigs. M. hyosynoviae is ubiquitous and most, if not all herds are infected with it. It may be present in some herds and cause no clinical signs and yet in others cause severe disease. Generally, morbidity is low to moderate, but up to 50% of pigs may be affected; mortality is very low. Despite M. hyosynoviae is a respiratory spread disease, infects joints and tendon sheaths producing an acute lameness, lasting up to 10 days. Infectious arthritis emerge as important cause of lameness in pigs that have been moved to the grower/finisher areas.
