Neisseria gonorrhoeae
Description
The NeiGon dtec-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Neisseria gonorrhoeae detection by using qPCR. Neisseria gonorrhoeae (also known as gonococcus) is a species of Gram-negative diplococci bacterium belonging to the Neisseriaceae family. It causes the sexually transmited genitourinary infection called gonorrhea as well as other forms of disease including disseminated gonococcemia, septic arthritis, and gonococcal ophthalmia neonatorum. N. gonorrhoeae is transmitted through vaginal, oral, or anal sex and infected persons do not develop immunity to future infections. Diagnosis is of special relevance as asymptomatic infections are common in both males and females.
