Ovine herpesvirus 2

Description

The OvHV2 dtec – qPCR comprises a series of species-specific targeted reagents designed for Ovine herpesvirus 2 detection by using qPCR. OvHV2 is endemic in sheep populations worldwide and causes malignant catarrhal fever (MCF), a lymphoproliferative disease, in cattle, bison and deer. OvHV-2 has been placed in the gammaherpesvirus subfamily and is related closely toAlcelaphine herpesvirus 1 (AlHV-1). These viruses cause inapparent infection in sheep, their main reservoir hosts. However, MCF in pigs has been associated with direct or indirect contact with sheep. BMCF is an important disease where reservoir and susceptible animals mix.
