Porcine circovirus type 3
Description
The PCV-3 dtec-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Porcine circovirus type 3 detection by using qPCR. Porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV-3) is a non-enveloped DNA virus with a single-stranded circular genome. It represents the third member of the genus Circovirus, in the family Circoviridae, and it is able to infect swines. This novel virus was isolated in North Carolina in 2015 from tissues of pigs suffering from porcine dermatitis and nephropathy syndrome, reproductive failure, myocarditis and multisystemic inflammation. It is thought that PCV-3 has horizontal transmission and vertical transmission, because viral genome was detected in feces, nasal swabs, oral fluids, trucks transporting pigs, fetuses, semen and colostrum. However, knowledge about PCV-3 is still very limited and there is not yet any clue on its potential pathogenesis or disease causation role.
