Rabies virus
Description
The RABV dtec-RT-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Rabies virus detection by using qPCR. Rabies virus is a negative-sense, single-stranded RNA virus assigned to the genus Lyssavirus. Virions are bullet-shape and composed of two structural units: an internal helical nucleocapsids and a lipid envelope derived from the host cytoplasmatic membrane. It’s the causative agent of acute progressive encephalitis (rabies) in mammals, including humans, and is transmitted through an animal with rabies directly by bites, scratches, or contamination of mucous membranes with infected saliva. Animals with rabies suffer deterioration of the brain and tend to behave bizarrely and often aggressively, increasing the chances that they will bite another animal or a person and transmit the disease.
