Salmonella Enteric Pathogens
Description
The Salmonella Enteric Pathogens dtec-qPCR-Panel-2 comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for S. enterica subsp. enterica serovars Typhimurium and Enteritidis detection by using qPCR. Salmonella is closely related to the Escherichia genus and are found worldwide in cold- and warm-blooded animals (including humans), and in the environment. Salmonella infections are zoonotic and can be transferred between humans and nonhuman animals. Many infections are due to ingestion of contaminated food. Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Enteritidis (also known as Salmonella Enteritidis) is an important human pathogen. Infection caused by S. enterica is the second most common cause of bacterial gastroenteritis (food poisoning) in the developed world and S. Enteritidis is responsible for 15 % of the cases. Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica sv. Typhimurium (commonly known as Salmonella Typhimurium) is predominately found in the intestinal lumen. It causes gastroenteritis in humans and other mammals. Description of new serotypes may cross-react with the kit.
