Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus

Description

The SARS-CoV dtec-RT-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus detection by using qPCR. The SARS coronavirus is a positive and single-stranded RNA virus belonging to the family Coronaviridae in the genus Betacoronavirus. It is responsible of the Severe acute respiratory syndrome, a viral respiratory disease of zoonotic origin. Initial symptoms are flu-like and may include fever, muscle pain, lethargy symptoms, cough, sore throat, and other nonspecific symptoms. Most patients develop pneumonia; either direct viral pneumonia or secondary bacterial pneumonia. The way that SARS-CoV seems to spread is by close person-to-person contact, mainly transmitted most readily by respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Between November 2002 and July 2003, an outbreak of SARS-CoV in Asia caused thousands of cases and hundreds of deaths in 17 countries.
