Sheppox virus
Description
The SPPV dtec-qPCR comprises a series of species-specific targeted reagents designed for Sheeppox virus detection by using qPCR. Sheeppox virus is member of the Capripoxvirus genus of the Poxviridae family and had a double stranded, linear DNA genome of approximately 150 kb. Sheeppox is the etiologic agent of sheeppox on sheeps in northern and central Africa, southwest and central Asia, and the Indian subcontinent. It is a serious, often fatal, and highly contagious disease characterized by widespread skin eruption. Sheep pox is the most severe of all the pox diseases of animals and must be differentiated from the milder infection, contagious ecthyma.
