Suid herpesvirus 1
Description
The SuHV-1 dtec-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Suid herpesvirus 1 detection by using qPCR. Suid herpesvirus 1 is a double stranded DNA virus belonging to the Hespesviridae family. It is present worldwide and is responsible of Aujeszky’s disease in swine, usually called pseudorabies in the United States. Aujeszky’s disease is considered to be the most economically important viral disease of swine in areas where classical swine fever (hog cholera) has been eradicated. Other mammals, such as cattle, sheep, goats, horses, cats, dogs, and raccoons, are also susceptible. The virus affects all animals differently from pruritus to encephalitis or bronchopneumonia and can be fatal in these animal species. In piglets, signs are much more severe and many die within 2 days. Suid herpesvirus 1 is highly contagious and can be spread through many meters of distance.
