Taylorella asinigenitalis
Description
The TayAsi dtec-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Taylorella asinigenitalis detection by using qPCR. Taylorella asinigenitalis is a Gram-negative bacterium of the genus Taylorella that can be found in the genital tract of equids and is generally considered to be non-pathogenic. T. equigenitalis and T. asinigenitalis are the only two species of the Taylorella genus and are phenotypically very similar. T. equigenitalis is the causative agent of contagious equine metritis in horses, which is notifiable to the World Organisation for Animal Health. Differentiation of T. asinigenitalis from T. equigenitalis is very important for the equine breeding industry and is difficult to perform using conventional methods but can be achieved using qPCR.
