Taylorella equigenitalis
Description
The TayEqu epPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Taylorella equigenitalis detection by using epPCR. Taylorella equigenitalis is a Gram-negative bacterium of the genus Taylorella, and the causative agent of contagious equine metritis in horses. Disease is an inflammatory sexually transmitted disease that is found in both males and females. Infected stallions are asymptomatic and act as the principal source of infection. Once the disease is contracted in the mare, the most common affection is infertility and in pregnant mares abortion is expected. Other effects in mares, such as cervicitus, endometritis and varying severities of vaginitis, can occur and occasionally have fatal outcomes.
