Trypanosoma congolense
Description
The TryCon dtec-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Trypanosoma congolense detection by using qPCR. Trypanosoma congolense is a member of the Trypanosoma genus, a monophyletic group of unicellular parasitic flagellate protozoa belonging to the Trypanosomatidae family. T. congolense is the major pathogen causing nagana in cattle and other animals such as pigs, goats, camels, horses and dogs. The disease causes fever, weakness, and lethargy, leading to weight loss and anemia; in some animals, the disease is fatal unless treated. Transmission occurs through tsetse flies, and it predominantly affects regions in Africa.
