Trypanosoma evansi
Description
The TryEva dtec-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Trypanosoma evansi detection by using qPCR. Trypanosoma evansi is a trypanosome species from the genus Trypanosoma capable of causing surra in infected animals. While it rarely affects humans, it can infect a wide range of domestic and wild animal hosts, including camelids, equines, cattle, buffaloes, sheep, goats, pigs, dogs, other carnivores, deer, gazelles, and elephants. Surra is particularly severe in camels, equines, and dogs, often resulting in fatality if left untreated. The disease manifests with non-specific clinical signs such as anaemia, weight loss, abortion, and death. T. evansi is rapidly expanding its geographic range, having been historically restricted to Africa, but it has now been detected in northeastern Africa, southern Asia, most of eastern Asia and Latin America.
