Trypanosoma spp.
Description
The TrySpp qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Trypanosoma spp. detection by using qPCR. Trypanosoma spp. is a genus of a monophyletic group of unicellular parasitic flagellate protozoa belonging to the Trypanosomatidae family. A large number of species and subspecies of trypanosomes have been described. Different species of trypanosomes infect a variety of different vertebrates, including animals and humans. The majority of species are transmitted by blood-feeding invertebrates, but there are different mechanisms among the varying species. Trypanosomes infect a variety of hosts and cause various diseases. This design detects the majority of Trypanosoma species, but excludes T. congolense, T. vivax and Trypanozoon.
